When it comes to keeping water out of your masonry chimney, prevention is better and far cheaper than undertaking repairs necessitated by water damage. Masonry chimneys are extraordinarily vulnerable to the ravages of rainwater, both because chimneys project above the roofline and because brick and mortar are porous. Luckily, you can have your masonry chimney professionally waterproofed with a formula that’s been proven to reduce water penetration into masonry by 99.9 percent, while still allowing your chimney to breathe. If your chimney is riddled with water leaks, liner damage, freeze/thaw damage, or efflorescence, ChimneySaver can help put a stop to the damage.

What Is ChimneySaver?

ChimneySaver water repellent

ChimneySaver’s waterproofing products let Mother Nature know she is not invited into your chimney. Unlike typical concrete sealants that can accelerate damage to your chimney by trapping water vapors inside, ChimneySaver is specially formulated to form a semi-permeable membrane that allows your chimney’s brickwork to breathe.

ChimneySaver contains patented siloxanes small enough to penetrate most masonry pores up to ¼” or more. These siloxanes form a strong bond with the silica in masonry and concrete. Because of this bonding process, one application of ChimneySaver provides up to ten times the water repellent protection of typical sealers.

This 100% vapor-permeable water repellent penetrates and lines the brick’s microscopic masonry pores, keeping new water from penetrating while allowing any water that’s already trapped within the brickwork to escape. This is important because moisture from a variety of sources is always present in masonry and concrete. If these vapors can’t escape, they will likely contribute to brick scaling, spalling, and freeze/thaw damage.

ChimneySaver’s 10 -Year Limited Warranty

Saver Systems warrants that ChimneySaver water repellent will exhibit a water repellent effect for 10 years from the date of application if applied according to label instructions and if minimum application requirements are met. Our chimney technicians will apply ChimneySaver so that you can enjoy the full life of its warranty.

Note, however, that no water repellent is a substitute for good construction and workmanship. The first step in preventing water damage is to make necessary repairs as needed by installing a chimney cap and repairing structural cracks, damaged crowns, flashing, deteriorated bricks, and mortar joints. The second step is to protect porous masonry from further water penetration by applying ChimneySaver Water Repellent. At A to Z Chimney Services we are trained to handle all of these repairs and precautions.

Testimonials

A to Z’s Technician did a terrific job cleaning out my dryer vent! He was very pleasant to work with and professional. He cleaned the outside dryer vent ductwork. It hadn't been cleaned in 10 years so there was a lot of lint and buildup in the ductwork. He said there wasn't much airflow going through the ductwork.

That could explain why it was taking so long for the clothes to dry. It was also a huge fire hazard. He cleaned up the area outside. I couldn't even tell he had been there. He pulled off the bottom of the dryer to check for lint build up in the dryer. There was a lot of lint in there too. He said he could clean the inside of the dryer also for an extra charge of $50.00.

I thought that was a very reasonable price so I had him clean the inside of the dryer also. I am very pleased with his work and glad I finally found someone to clean the vent. His company also automatically makes an appointment to come back in tow years to clean it again. The appointment will be in two years for the same date as the original visit. He put a magnet on the front of the dryer with the future appointment date so I don't forget. I will definitely use his service again.
