Gas Fireplaces, Stoves, And Inserts In Sacramento
A gas fireplace has lots of merits—requiring little tending and cleanup and less maintenance than a wood-burning appliance, but providing
the same cozy ambiance. Depending on the type you have, gas fireplaces can also offer plenty of reliable warmth. Today’s gas heating appliances have come a long way from the original versions. Gas logs are now molded from real logs and can be very difficult to tell apart from the real thing—same goes for the embers and flames, which dance and flicker realistically. And gas fireplaces can fit any number of décor styles—from chic and modern to rustic.
Types Of Gas Fireplaces
There are three types of gas fireplaces: inserts, built-ins, and log sets, all of which come either vent-free or vented. Inserts are great for homeowners who want to transform an existing wood-burning fireplace into a gas fireplace, while built-ins are usually installed in homes without a fireplace. Log sets, while not nearly as warm as inserts and built-ins, can provide great ambiance and create a focal point in the home. Vented appliances vent the appliance’s fumes outside the home via a chimney, while vent-free models release their exhaust—and all of their heat—into the home. The technicians at A to Z Chimney Services can help you determine which type of gas fireplace is right for you, based on your desires and your existing fireplace. We’ll also make sure you know how to use your gas fireplace properly to maximize enjoyment and ensure your family’s safety.
Can I Install My Own Gas Fireplace?
For a number of reasons, we never recommend trying to install your own heating appliance. Having a professional install your gas fireplace, gas stove, or insert—along with the proper chimney system to go with each product—is important for many reasons. First, it guarantees the warranties that come with each appliance. Many manufacturers will not honor a warranty if it has been installed by someone who is not NFI-certified. Furthermore, every single gas fireplace owner’s manual will tell you in no uncertain terms that your gas fireplace requires annual service by a qualified gas technician.
Whether installing a new unit, changing out an old system for a new one, or repairing a damaged fireplace, our gas fireplace technicians understand and have experience working within important parameters. For instance, we make sure the unit is the right one for the size of the room, considering airflow and clearances. These are things that, if missed, can cause you a lot of grief in the future because the unit will not function or meet your expectations.
Many people mistakenly believe that gas heating appliances don’t require maintenance. However, gas fireplaces, stoves, and inserts need professional cleanings and inspections to ensure your family’s safety, as well as to maximize your fire-burning experience and extend the life of your gas fireplace. We find that most of our customers in Sacramento need to have their gas fireplace cleaned and serviced every 3-5 years. I just wanted to thank you for coming to our rescue the other day. I just purchased a new home and a new washer and dryer to go with it. Understandibly, I was a very confused when my dryer suddenly began taking two or three cycles in order to dry my clothes! To my surprise, the appliance repairman who came out told me that my dryer was just fine, but that my dryer vent needed to be cleaned out! I had never heard of such a thing! Mercifully, he referred me to you guys and everything went better from there.
Your technician discovered that a bird had decided to make its nest in my vent! A lot of effort and tons of nesting material later, my vent was finally unclogged!
Thanks again for your valiant efforts! The guy that came to my house was fantastic and took everything in stride, and didn’t charge me any extra despite the fact that my vent took longer than normal to clean! I’ll be sure to tell everyone where they can get great service having the dryer vent cleaned!
