Several courses of this chimney’s bricks now need to be completely rebuilt because of a leaking deteriorated crown.
Did you know that water leaking into masonry chimneys causes more damage than any other element… including chimney fires?!
If your chimney’s crown and/or shoulders are damaged too badly to be sealed with CrownSeal, than a complete Tear-Off and Re-Build of the affected areas will be necessary. Unlike most masons and other chimney companies, A to Z does not re-pour a new crown using cheap, inferior mortar (which will quickly deteriorate again).
Instead, we use CrownSaver, a blend of polymer-modified hydraulic cements, powder-based water repellent, and fiber- reinforced Portland cement which is specifically engineered for the harsh environments chimney crowns are subjected to.
Because this engineered cement also has waterproofing agents, you’ll notice that after it is cured, water will bead up and shed like off a duck’s back rather than being absorbed into the masonry. Crown rebuilding at it’s finest, CrownSaver crown and shoulder cement is the pinnacle of doing the job right the first time!

I was shocked by the amount of dryer lint that was cleaned out of my vent…but what really got my attention was the fact that MY DRYER HAD CAUGHT FIRE, AND I DIDN’T EVEN REALIZE IT! This was a little too close for comfort! I’ll be sure to have my vent cleaned on a regular basis from now on, AND to warn my friends and neighbors…Dryers can catch fire, and it could happen to you, too!
